If you aren't currently aware, Miss Unkon recently released their Transeasonal 2012 collection which we just received instore at Princess Polly Sydney about a week ago. As soon as I first opened the shop to these beautiful berry knits in the cupboard, my heart just melted. I couldn't wait to just try one one. I absolutely love this 'Shield A Heart' jumper as it is the perfect fit and so tight and preppy but still has an Aztec feel with the triangle front which has been knitted in a different direction. 
I felt this jumper works perfectly with collared shirts so I popped this Western shirt with collar tips to match my Aztec style Eye necklace (which also has a triangle to match my knit!) Seeing as I'm not always a simple dresser, I decided to also chuck on a bit of colour with my Fairground lion scarf print shorts which I am so in love with!! There's actually lions printed on them! AW MAH GAWSH!
Not going to lie, I'm pretty happy with how this outfit turned out, however, I only realised just now as I analyse the photos that my stockings are a darker shade of black than my shoes. Such a fail, I kinda look heaps dorky... Oh well, maybe next time I'll actually look in the mirror before I leave the house...

The Big Fashion Sale

The Big Fashion Sale, if you're not already currently aware is possibly one of my favourite designer sales I have been to yet and one I encourage anybody who loves a heavily discounted designer piece. It is a sale which has been organised by Australian designers who work together to sell International and local brands. Last weekend, they had another sale located on Oxford St which I purposely took off work to attend. Unfortunately, this time around I didn't find as much as I did on my last trip which is actually a good thing! Hopefully, my bank account doesn't hate me too much now. Seeing as last time I possibly spent close to $300 on items I don't need, but love by Karla Spetic, We Are Handsome and My Pet Square. 
This sale on the weekend though was possibly the most rewarding for me as I snagged this Karla Spetic 1/2 silk, 1/2 leather digital print skirt for only $99! If you look closely at the tag, it has been discounted from $484. And from the words of Rachel Zoe "I die." Which I almost did when I saw how affordable it was. I have honestly been eyeing this skirt for so long and have not been able to fork out the cash yet, sadly it is a size 8 so it is quite loose on me but I will make sure I have a food baby before popping this little number on!
I also scored these ripped up lilac denim shorts from Friend of Mine for $50 from $120 which I was totally stoked about because I love the colour! However, my shopping habbits are a bit ridiculous as I probably don't need another pair of denim shorts. Cheap and Chic

If you haven't noticed everywhere lately, the trend is to have a boyfriend style watch (preferably rose gold) and if you could afford it, a Michael Kors rose gold watch would be the one you were to buy. For those like me who have a bank account that despises them, I have officially found you the best knock-off at such an affordable price. This watch I am currently wearing was only $29.95 from Diva and I have received more comments than any other item I have ever owned (lol joke, I consistently get comments on my YSL ring... but that's no surprise there!) Honestly though, the amount of people who are fooled by the fact that it is not a Michael Kors watch is possibly the best compliment and feeling to ever receive!
Off topic, these are the last lot of shots by Blake before he left for Europe so hopefully I can bribe one of my friends to take some photos of me in the meantime! Fingers crossed!
Lastly, I am in love with this vintage floral print dress which I scored for $5 at the Kirribilli markets awhile back. However, it is incredibly short but seems to always be my go-to dress when I cannot think of anything to wear! As much as I feel ridiculously self conscious bending down in it, I cannot get over the big florals!

As of late, I have been using up my procrastination time on Pinterest and exploring the never ending scrolls of pure eyegasm. From the constant flow of all things fashion to the tantalising displays of mouthwatering food to where my wanderlust grows as I discover more unique places to want to travel to. Pinterest has been keeping well entertained as well as more envious of Blake who is travelling right now in Europe for the next six weeks. Effectively, this will be the result of my lack of outfit posts for the coming weeks...

But lucky enough, I will been trying my best to procrastinate and steer clear from the piles of undone/overdue assignments and keep all you guys update on my Pinterest board! If you haven't yet gotten a Pinterest account, then I highly recommend you have a quick browse and see if it suits you! It is pretty much like a live cork board where you can pin any photo you see online. So handy as it always reminds me of the things I want to buy or wish to buy! Which you can see in my album labelled 'wishlist'.

What I also love about Pinterest, is the ability to make quick storyboards and outfit layouts which are just oh so pretty!

Above is the outfit I wish to own, but could probably never afford! However, I did purchase my first pair of Acne Pistol Boots the other day (which is seen in my above Instagram photo) via Net-A-Porter which has officially made me the happiest and luckiest girl in the world. I am so content, as it has been on my 'must have' list for years!

Ps. The top storyboard is some cute underwater theme I had going on, little did I realise I chose to put the Mother Jeans in both my layouts. Fail. But that is just how much I love them!

Casual Cocktail Dresses

As I sit here with my Facebook open, scrolling down on my news feed with my post open in another tab, I question as to why I haven't written anything in two weeks. Terrible right? What kind of fashion up-to-date blogger am I? After much realisation, I have noticed that I have actually taken on board a few too many jobs in the past weeks. If you currently follow me on Instagram @kateyess, you may have seen that I posted a photo of the Rachel Gilbert Head Office, this is because I am the new intern there and will be there once a week for the next few weeks. Stupidly enough, I decided that I could also uphold another internship as a Design Assistant at Romance Was Born which I also started the week before. Thus, the reason as to why I don't seem to have time for myself anymore. Oh and on top of that I also still have a casual job at Princess Polly and seem to go to class every week at FBI Fashion College. What I don't understand is how I manage to see my friends and go to ballet classes as well. Don't even step near the part of completing my assignments on time. I can definitely say, I'm not going too well in that department.
Anywho, enough of the babble. A few weeks ago, Blake and I decided to pop over to Circular Quay to see the newly refurbished Museum of Contemporary Art gallery. Fondly enough, as soon as I got into Blake's car, he said to me "You're not wearing that are you? You look way too over dressed!" (Well maybe not those exact words, but pretty much along those lines as he referred to my dress). My response was that, "well I'm wearing ankle boots and ruffle socks! It's completely toned down!", yet he still couldn't understand the concept and still felt I needed to get changed. Being stubborn, I said I looked fine and that wearing what may be perceived as a cocktail dress with ankle boots is completely okay and that people would not stare and look at me weirdly! (I actually don't think I got any weird looks that day! I probs did but...) But really is it okay at all? Have I simply read too many magazines filled with celebrities wearing cute and pretty hundreds of dollar garments with grungey boots or Converse that my mind has been polluted to think I can wear anything casually if I tone it down? Personally, I think my outfit looks normal and that I've put so much thought into it thinking it is okay. However, I shall leave the vote to all of you readers, please let me know whether I looked too overdressed to go to a contemporary art gallery and whether or not you think it is okay to wear a cocktail dress casually!

Recently, I was invited to attend the event Fashion Weekend, which was on at The Royal Hall of Industries, held by Shop Til You Drop. If you haven't been or heard of it yet, I recommend you check it out! This event is for those who adore shopping, love bargains, love being pampered and also enjoy the perks of being a guest at a Fashion show! What I specifically love about this event is the opportunity they give me to be able to afford high end labels. Designers ranging from Camilla and Marc to Ksubi to Shakuhachi where popular affordable brands such as Something Else, Ottomode and Motel still make an appearance. In the first picture above of the store 'Love Story', which involved a lovely old lady selling vintage clothes (mostly sourced internationally), I even saw items by Prada, Gucci and a bit of Josh Goot! (Aussie represent!... heh.) And my memory is a tad hazy, but I think I may have even had a glimpse of Chanel, where I definitely remember the owner donning a Chanel bomber jacket. (Whattahottie!) I actually have a photo of her looking incredible in vintage designer clothing, except they were a tad blurry so I decided not to add them!

Back to the event, I ended up leaving with a few goodies from Miss Unkon, Fleur Wood, Motel and Billion Dollar Babes with only spending about $50 which I was pleasantly surprised with. Patrick on the other hand left with nothing... (probably due to the lack on Men's clothing). Whereas Louise seemed to have made the most out of it by scoring two pairs of leather heels for $30 each. Which may I add, am incredibly jealous about as my size 5-6 feet seem to struggle to ever find discounted shoes! All in all, the bargains are great! 

Ps. I couldn't help but add photos of my lovely friends and their unique style. Loving the paisley on Patrick and the scarf print on Louise. If you hadn't noticed, we are a group of print lovers! Lastly, the girl at the bottom (which I terribly forgot the name of) is a girl I met at College who I absolutely think has the most adorable fashion sense. I couldn't help but say hi to her when I saw her working at the Bless'ed Are The Meek stall, doesn't she pull off the bralette and knee length skirt just so well?!

Fashion Palette! A gateway for emerging and established designers to showcase their collections to not only media and industry professionals but every day consumers, which means that the general public are able to buy tickets to this two day event filled with lots of fashion, photo booth and way too much free energy drink.

The stand out shows for both the two days for me were seen by Anaessia, My Wild Love, Jayson Brunsdon and Provcator.

Anaessia opened with graceful ballet dancers, where the ladies wore embellished organza and lace dresses over their leotards. Each dress was almost reminiscent of a Disney Princess gown, which didn't help the drool to run down my face. (I have a weird soft spot for anything Disney related...)

My next favourite, was My Wild Love who presented hippie and 70's inspired garments. Plenty of midriffs, high-waisted shorts and crazy bushy hair instantly made me feel like I was in Woodstock running around and not caring about society... Stereotypically, my idea of fun!

Jayson Brunsdon, was another favourite who graced the runway with bubble capes and a continuous use of white and champagne tones. I almost felt like I was placed in bridal heaven with my skin covered in luscious silks. Oh how the garments looked so silky smooth!

Last favourite was Provocator, who opposed the pretty trend and introduced their grungey look with a bit of 'mummy' inspiration. Not gonna lie, the toilet paper covered feet, such a unique idea! However, I did feel sorry for the models who had toilet paper falling off their feet and had to try to avoid stepping on it and falling over. (Probs wasn't toilet paper but some sort of material... Meh!) But I guess this is why they call them "supermodels" because they are able to always perform so super...?!

All in all, Fashion Palette was a success and a great eye opener to see (before Fashion Week) what a high-end fashion show is like. Definitely, was a good way to begin the week of craziness that is known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week!

Once again sorry for the delay, I don't think I can even use the "I've been so busy" excuse anymore as I sit here procrastinating from assignments right now typing away at this post and shoving Doritos down my throat...

Anywho! Day one was the day of the Miss Unkon show, so I thought I would show my support and rock a lace and scallop outfit by Miss Unkon, teamed with my Sportsgirl pea coat which I picked up at Vinnies! I also wore these opened toed t-bar shoes by Wittner, which look oh so beautiful but really it resulted in blistered feet and ripped bleeding skin... Note to self, only wear socks or stockings with these shoes! Also that third photo consists of me and the gorgeous Brooke Lazarus from The Topknotter with Jay Lyons from The City! Yes, yes I do watch that show religiously, sometimes always wishing to be Whitney Port!

Day two was shot by Patrick who was lovely enough to meet me early during Fashion Week and snap some photos before we ran off to our Fashion Magazines class at college. I am in love with this printed Stylestalker blazer which I got from Princess Polly, I don't even know what you would call that print but it sure photographs well! Also, I have been previously told that this bag doesn't go with my outfit. But really, don't hate because it's my camera bag! And it's leather! Therefore, it is perfection!

Day three, shot at home by my mumma after a long day of work and Fashion shows. Featuring my exhausted eyes, just screaming for sleep!

Day four was shot by Joseph (who also shot day one and five). My jacket was my favourite part of this outfit which was mysteriously found in the closet of the spare bedroom in my house. Apparently, it was previously owned by my Auntie 'back in the day'. I love how the style and shape of the jacket is still so unique and trendy to this day.

Finally day five, where I wore this magnificent silk cape found in my sister's wardrobe bought from Zara in Italy. How beautiful are the butterflies!? I also adore my new mint silk top from Princess Polly and the funky beaded necklace my sister made by herself. Oh and also you may have noticed that for the rest of the week I wore my Lita's by Jeffrey Campbell. This was mainly due to the excessive amount of walking I did during Fashion Week and the amount of pure hate my feet had for me. So I thought I'd attempt at going for something slightly more comfortable, as a result my body still hates me and has left me with bruises after falling over twice in the one day due to being so fatigued!

RUMI NEELY FROM FASHION TOAST!

DAY 5! I have finally pulled myself together and am writing my last MBFWA photo diary post! I know it has taken me over a week to write this up, but I feel like I have been stuck feeling nostalgic of that blissful, unrealistic week and struggling to let it all go. It almost feels like I was asleep where my mind was set in fantasy mode for the whole week. I still cannot grab a hold of the fact that I actually had the opportunity to attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! Aside from that, Day 5 was the longest and most full-on day which resulted in me being too lazy to scroll through the 900 photos and choose the best. But here they are!

My morning began with Winson Tan who opened the Raffles International Design Showcase with his rainforest inspired prints. I could barely control myself as I gasped over the incredible lightning bolt chiselled heels and extravagant head pieces that covered the model's faces. Gabriel Lee was the other distinct designer, during the Raffles Showcase who brought clean cut tailored men style garments cleverly transforming them to look very feminine and summer chic. 

Next was the overly inspiring Akira Isogawa who believes "a garment can transcend, giving it a soul", which always whispers through my head as I see his garments. And yet again in his S/S 2012/13 collection, his bold colourful florals and romantic white silks were brought to life. If you haven't yet noticed throughout this week, there has been a big consistency of me snapping away photos of both Ollie Henderson and Kaila Hart, so I decided to recognise them this time as they always looks so flawless and have especially presented the garments perfectly for Akira Isogawa at The Box. 

Bless'ed Are The Meek were the next show for the afternoon who opened with an incredible misty lightshow which resembled the cloud and the reflection of the sea. The theme seemed to be inspired by sea creatures with flowy dresses, creative cut-outs, shell appliqués and underwater prints.

The last show for the week was nANA jUDY who had Amy Meredith play alongside! I had been anticipating a great show for the past two weeks before MBFWA, when I had first received my invitation to the show. I could not have thought of a better way to end my week than to see one of my favourite Australian bands play next to a bunch of good looking models in classic trendy day wear. This was probably my favourite show of the week just due to the upbeat vibe and relaxed environment. Or maybe I'm just being extremely bias because I love Amy Meredith... Either way, I thought it was a fun show and completed my week on a delightful note!

Finally, I HAVE A PHOTO WITH RUMI NEELY. So I met Rumi from Fashion Toast on the last day, as I finally (after 4 days of fan girl-ism) bucked up the courage to say hi. Isn't she perfect? I look so derp next to her with my over-excited smile. Unfortunately, I never got the courage to speak to Susie Lau from Style Bubble but I'm still happy to say I was about 2 metres from her. WEEW!
